About us

We're an aviation consultancy that takes the long view.

Aviation moves fast - and the people running training organisations, navigation services, and emerging UAV businesses deserve a partner who moves with them, not one who shows up with a generic framework and leaves before the hard part begins.

Our story

Senior Aviation Expertise, When It Matters

Vector Point Aviation was founded by Marcus Mimms, former Managing Director of a UK CAA-approved Initial Training Organisation, with over twenty years of frontline aviation and ATC training experience.

We help aviation organisations access senior expertise without the need for full-time resource, providing specialist support across ATC training design, safety management, regulatory compliance, UAV integration, and strategic development.

Our name reflects our purpose: helping clients understand where they are, where they need to go, and how to get there with clarity and confidence.

Senior Aviation Expertise, When It Matters
How we work

Our approach

We work the way we do because we've seen what happens when consultants don't. Four principles guide everything we do.

01

Listen first

Before we recommend anything, we spend time understanding your organisation — your history, your pressure points, your people, and the constraints you're working within. We don't arrive with the answer.

02

Co-create, don't dictate

Our best work happens alongside your team, not in isolation from it. We build frameworks, strategies, and programmes collaboratively, so that your people own the output from day one.

03

Stay accountable

We stay involved through implementation - available to adjust, troubleshoot, and support as conditions change. A recommendation without accountability is just advice. We aim to be more than that.

04

Leave you stronger

Every engagement should end with your team more capable than when we started. We measure success not by dependency, but by the moment you no longer need us in that area.

What we stand by

Our values

  • Independence - we have no financial relationship with any technology or training product vendor. Our recommendations reflect your interests only.

  • Honesty - we will tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. That sometimes makes for an uncomfortable conversation. We have it anyway.

  • Depth over breadth - we take on fewer clients so we can give each one proper attention. We are not interested in volume.

  • Practical over theoretical - everything we recommend, we have seen work in practice. We do not traffic in frameworks we have never applied.

  • Long-term thinking - aviation is a long-cycle industry. We help you make decisions that hold up over years, not just quarters.

Global by design

Where we work

We work globally, with a particularly strong footprint in the UK, the Middle East, Africa, and South-East Asia. Our clients range from established national ANSPs undergoing modernisation to newly established training academies building their programmes from the ground up.

Remote working capability means we can mobilise quickly and engage meaningfully without requiring the client to carry the cost of full-time presence where it is not warranted.

The team

Senior, specialist, hands-on

Every person who works at Vector Point Aviation has operational or regulatory experience in the field. We do not use junior resource backed by a senior name — the people you meet in the scoping conversation are the people who do the work. Our associates are carefully selected for depth of expertise and alignment with our values, and we only bring them into engagements where their specific experience adds genuine value.
